we need to stop and celebrate the fact that we've been in business for 30 years I think it's also important to reflect on the fact that we're here today because of residents that bought into a b del rey south 30 years ago they believed in this concept and we've continued to keep that that tradition going we lived in pompano and we heard my husband heard about the abbey opening and he came up to look at it and find out about it two years ahead of time so he signed up for it in February of 1980 and it wasn't built so finished till 82 and we moved in September 82 I have stayed here for as long as I have because of that feeling of genuine caring and the residents I think they they pick up on that and they're lovely people to begin with and for some reason everything just clicks into a nice warm friendly caring atmosphere that you cannot help but feel we looked at eleven different complexes like this before we made a decision but we said why wouldn't go to a place where they want us where they're friendly even the workers when we saw them said hi to us in good morning I thought that was so unusual and the more we watched the more we noticed it other places don't do it but they do it here here at Abby the friendliness of everyone you are always smiling when you see someone and everyone seems so content and when my husband and I walked in we said this is it and that was it and are we glad just think it's a very wonderful place I feel like it's Disneyland the residents are just so delightful it's just a very caring warm place I think there's a mutual admiration society going on here because if the residents love us we surely love the residents one of the misconceptions that we have for seniors is that you know this is the end or that you know they're here not really to contribute anything to society and one of the things I always like to stress to people that have not had the privilege of working in this industry is that this is not about the end this is a this is only the beginning and quite frankly in many cases it's a new chapter even in our resonance lives I think most people even my friends felt that when I came here I was coming to an old age home and we'd all be sitting around and rocking chairs and waiting to die and that's ripped some editor is it's not like that at all I didn't really even know these kind of facilities existed before you know I my grandparents lived in like a mobile home parks and you know over 55 communities but they didn't have the health care facilities they didn't have 30 exercise classes a week they didn't have all the entertainment and like it said it's like a cruise ship I'm on land we have everything here and I mean they don't have to cook the food is great here we had there's three meals a day there's parties all the time have a library and we keep up with everything we keep up with change and which is what I like to see there's so many different activities that you know that you can join if you move in here and you play bridge you don't have a minute's peace because you're going to be playing bridge every day they do things I mean they they go out to go to the theater they go swimming there playing golf there it isn't like you're coming to a retirement home like the old idea of a retired now I still have friends you know and the around del rey and I tell them I haven't had this much fun since I was in high school there's so many activities and so much to do and so many fun people to do things with so that's one of the things I very much enjoy everything that they have done here in the years that we've been here is fantastic because it makes people want to come and so that that's the important thing of I think life space that they have seen to our every desire it's so important that we're doing this to you know celebrate where we've been and who we are but also to celebrate you know what we're becoming over the next 30 years happy anniversary Abby south and I'm happy I live here happy happy Anniversary to everyone here at Abby happy 30th anniversary Abby Del Rey's south happy anniversary Abby happy anniversary Abby delray south happy Anniversary to heavy delray south happy anniversary Abby delray south happy healthy congratulation on your 30th anniversary and let's go forward together you
