we wanted to have a new lifestyle we'd like the fact that there are so many activities that would keep you busy as busy you want to be way above what everybody else said we have every opportunity here at the gardens to fill our life as much or as little as we want and so it's a matter of selecting what you want to do as opposed to finding something you should see our calendar today versus the calendar we add we would announce there many programs to help people get involved in the use of all these great facilities but Harper College comes in and offers courses as well we are going just about every day to do something new they have different activities you meet different people that come in you're part of their lives our social life here revolves around having meals with each other it's easy to make friends here you know we have special dinners from time to time we'll have all fish dinners matter of fact the other night they had an all mushroom dinner there's a Wellness Center with staff with a couple of nurses and the programs because it doesn't just come on in and use the machines there's a barber shop there for men and I exercise more they have a gorgeous swimming locker room now be as good as any country club around here I exercise with my wife you share life because you had so many people with different it fit with your performing arts center and movie theater that's about everything you could think of that you want to do this is a way of life for younger people really people should come here when they're young it's just very comfortable and very lovely it's a very easy place to love it just makes for a very pleasant lifestyle [Music] you

it's not that you're just buying into a facility to me it was and it has been more of your joining a community we've got two groups of people here you've got a great group of residents and we find them just all friendly all enthusiastic about the garlands it's easy to make friends here we met so many people here people from all walks of life I've got some golf partners now over time they become not just casual friends but real residents careful we have a lot of friends who share our interest I haven't met anyone that I don't like and I find them very very interesting I think there are many interesting stories our social life here revolves around having meals with each other we found it very easy to get to know people and oftentimes we might three or four nights a week where we're having dinner with friends they only come out as you visit and you people don't tell you that only disarms Russia or they were professional painters or that they did all these interesting things whereas if I live is where I used to live here really see your neighbors and the other group of people is the staff I've been very much impressed with the staff they're really unbelievable thing that impresses you the first day you come is that every member the staff knows who you are they call you by name they're all very very cheerful or helpful and they're friendly there's a sincere appreciation for one another and whether you're talking about somebody that works in the kissing art that waitstaff or something breaks you called front desk they take care of it a maintenance man our member services in person life it is just wonderful and you know if you run into somebody who's got a problem and there may be complaining I'll just say dials start to they'll take care of you don't don't waste your energy on this it's a feeling of freedom it's great it's very relaxing there's no stress involved in it because they're just like family you

Oh [Music] we thought you know because we're not getting any younger we'd better start thinking about old old age we knew from her standpoint it was it was time to make a change we wanted to have a new lifestyle be more active I didn't want to live alone in the big house do I want to stay up on the fourth floor in my office with Carol down on the first floor people to move away younger people move in we weren't really looking for a retirement community we were just looking for something more comfortable than what we were living in so we started shopping around we heard about the girls they've ever been there before it's such a beautiful place my first impression was gee whiz is gonna be like living on the four seasons an apartment opened up the kinda was the one I was looking for maybe the apartments are just lovely again better than anything we had seen when we have enough room that if one of the grandkids comes and stays overnight they can stay with us so I projected all the numbers from all the different places about 10 years one of the most difficult things in my mind is to try and predict what life is going to be like someplace a year from now two years from now and so far and when you get out there we found the garland so it's actually slightly cheaper than some of these others so it wasn't long before we realized that this was gonna be our number one choice yeah it's hard packing up all your stuff and moving and we didn't want to have to relocate another time a lot of the people who come here too too late you know people who should come here when they young but the other thing that that I would suggest is just to sit down with with your spouse and maybe your family it comforts them to know that I'm here so know that I'm someplace that I'll be taking care of this best decision we could have made and we love it here we've been here over two years and it just gets better so I made the move and I'm very happy that I did it and we've never looked back [Music] you [Music]
