Set on a twenty-acre wooded parcel overlooking beautiful Whiskeag Pond in Bath, Maine, HillHouse has a reputation for excellent care. The atmosphere at HillHouse is less like a facility and more like a family. We offer your loved one the dignity and safety they deserve.
Our facility is a combination of new construction and a renovated 19th-century homestead, offering private rooms with kitchenettes in the new wing or smaller private rooms in the older wings. Many rooms overlook the fields and Whiskeag pond, and others look out onto the tranquil back woods behind the building.
Rooms are fully equipped with nurse call systems and all have individually controlled heat. We also offer several common areas for reading, gathering, and socializing with family and friends. HillHouse also offers several rooms that comply with all ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) regulations, suitable for people in wheelchairs.
RNs and LPNs are on site every day to oversee the care of each resident. They manage changes in a resident’s personal care and coordinate with each resident’s health care provider for appointments, pharmaceutical prescriptions, and treatment prescriptions including physical or other therapies.
In addition to licensed nurses, HillHouse employs Certified Nurse’s Aides and Personal Support Specialists to administer personal care to residents who need it. This includes assistance with bathing, toileting, personal hygiene, dressing, walking, and assistance with eating.
HillHouse licensed and registered nurses and Certified Residential Medication Aides (CRMAs) manage and administer each resident’s medications and treatments according to the residents’ prescriptions from their authorized health care providers.
HillHouse uses pharmacy services from Guardian Pharmacy of Maine and Wilson’s Pharmacy in Bath, both of which deliver medications directly to us, but families can also use other local pharmacies and bring medications to HillHouse for management and administration.
HillHouse uses locked medication carts in accordance with state regulations and, when possible, bubble packs for safest storage and administration of medications and treatments. We use the electronic medication tracking program, PointClickCare for recording each medication dose administered.
Guardian Pharmacy of Maine provides monthly pharmaceutical oversight of each resident’s prescription medications, reviewing prescribed medications and treatments for drug interactions and best practice.
HillHouse provides transportation and accompaniment to medical appointments if family is unable to transport the resident or unable to be in attendance.
Our nutrition staff works to accommodate individual resident's dietary needs, using locally sourced ingredients to create varied and appealing home-style meals. Meals are served in our sunlit dining room overlooking the pond, fields, and gardens. Although residents may choose to eat in their rooms, we encourage residents to enjoy the social interaction that gathering in the dining room provides. During the summer months, residents and family members are welcome to eat outside on our terrace.
Daily housekeeping services are provided for every resident room, including room cleaning and laundering of bed linens, towels, and personal clothing.
HillHouse provides a wide variety of regularly-occurring activities, many of which are specifically designed for residents with varying degrees of mobility or function. We always welcome new ideas from residents and family members and are happy to discuss special activity requests.
