we were planning the village of brookwood back in the early 2000s one of our primary goals was to have size of the campus where by the residents would notice staff and vice versa that there would be intimate relationships that people would know and feel comfortable interacting with each other and I believe we've accomplished that everybody on campus knows almost everybody else I know everybody here I would dare say that the majority of our staff know almost every resident by name and we speak and there's conversations and one of the unique things is that with our size it affords that a large community makes it very difficult if you have five to residents but a community of our size we have under 300 residents we are able to accomplish that and and develop those relationships that are important

One of our residents put it this way: "One measure of the quality of an organization is how the people involved feel about belonging to the organization. Most of the employees at The Village have been here since the beginning. A near-zero turnover rate means a well-managed staff that likes being on the job everyday. As a resident, I like that."

we feel like that we've accomplished a lot of what our initial goals were through encouraging our staff to reach out to residents and and to build that comfort and trust relationship to the point where we know when a resident is has some difficulties going on some challenges in their life and we can through information from from housekeepers or dining staff or maintenance staff they will pass this information on to maybe a clinic nurse who can follow up and help meet the needs of our residents we feel of I do anyway they're part of the community here in the same sense that residents are project muse there doesn't seem to be that distinction that barrier between yeah right right staffing and people is all really one big family despite the fact that they're not residents here you they feel like they belong they are always willing to help they're always smiling I think maybe they know they enjoy working here and our staff choose to work here because they want to be involved in somebody's life that is important to them have computer issues they're right here some of our staff will stay after work and go program that TV or that computer of that telephone for our resident and it's not something that we require we ask our staff to try to address the needs but our staff has taken that on many of them to to help because they care dan who runs the place is an amazing individual ruthann who helps run the social I mean these are truly unique remarkable people some of our residents do not have family close by and our staff fills the gap at times when there's a need or something's happening in their life that they need some personal attention our staff fills that role for the many any times
