Woodside Hall is owned and operated by a local Cooperstown family who is committed to providing unique individualized services for seniors.
Our guiding philosophy for Woodside Hall is to provide seniors with a long-term home-like environment that encourages and nurtures a sense of community while emphasizing the social and emotional well being of each individual.
The supportive services we offer help maintain as much independence as possible within the limits of safety. Because we are small and intimate, we are able to meet the interests and needs of each resident.
Built in 1829, Woodside Hall is a historic, architectural gem. The white columns of its graceful Neo-classical facade are visible from the main street of Cooperstown. The approach is by a winding driveway through groves of mature oak and maple trees. The grounds are planted with shrubs and flowers, and a sweeping lawn is focused by an historic entrance gate and fountain. The fieldstone and wood construction of Woodside Hall is being restored to its full glory.
The interiors of Woodside Hall are beautifully proportioned, with high ceilings, and wide hallways. Light floods through large windows to highlight the historic architectural details. Chandeliers, fireplaces, and fine furnishings give a home-like feeling of quiet repose to Woodside Hall. A large common dining room is the center of many shared meals and social activities.
We have a secure, personalized home-like environment where each person is valued and provided with services and the 24 hour support that is necessary to live a independently as is safe.
We offer daily activities and nutritional, home-cooked meals and snacks. Laundry and housekeeping services are provided. We oversee medication management. We schedule and provide transportation for medical appointments.
Our activity program is oriented to the interests of residents. The emphasis is on stimulating cognitive functioning and encouraging social communication and interaction.
Because the relationship we have with our pets brings joy and companionship, we accept animals with appropriate behavior.
From time to time, the elderly and their caregivers need respite from the responsibilities of living at home. Woodside Hall offers short-term stays in a caring community for rest and recovery.
When you care for someone on a daily basis, you may need our assistance. We know that the job you have undertaken is a big one and sometimes a break is welcome. We may be the answer.
The Adult Social Day Program at Woodside Hall is designed to meet the social, recreational and emotional needs of the residents in our Adult Home and provides residents from the community at large an opportunity to meet on a regular basis and participate in a program that is geared toward each individual’s needs.
The program appeals to each member of the group with ongoing projects, groups and excursions to a rich array of cultural events in Cooperstown. With only six participants we are able to respond to the interests of each individual. The program runs on weekdays from 10 AM to 3 PM.
