Regent Court Senior Living is located in beautiful Corvallis - home to Oregon State University. We provide specialized memory care services for those with Alzheimer's or other age-related cognitive impairments. Regent Court Senior Living is just across the street from the Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center with convenient access to Hwy 99E.
Memory care, sometimes referred to as Alzheimer’s care, is typically an assisted living or residential care setting that is designed specifically to care for those with Alzheimer’s or other dementias. Any type of dementia (and there are over 70 known types) requires special care and understanding from the caregiver.
Memory Care settings may provide physical and emotional relief as well as peace of mind for families with a memory-challenged relative. Memory care team members undergo dementia-specific training when learning how to provide assistance services.
Regent Court Senior Living is an inclusive living environment where elders are free to wander and use the entire building, secure courtyard or stroll through the garden. All elders live together in neighborhoods–interacting and supporting one another. This prevents isolation of memory care residents and encourages meaningful interactions. All elders are invited to even lead memory care programming as they are able–giving them a sense of purpose.
Programming includes empathetic communication to maintain self esteem, and to attend to the basic human needs of each individual. In addition, special attention is paid to nutrition, physical, social, and cognitive stimulation. Our Music Makes Memories program stimulates the limbic brain, and helps each person maintain a sense of self and purpose. Our Tiny Stories project allows us to record the stories we hear each day and capture them in audio recordings. The legacy of each person is maintained. Our goal is to help each individual be the best they can be despite cognitive decline while slowing the progression of impairments.
Benefits of a Corvallis community-based memory care setting include:
- secured entry to minimize risk of wandering.
- regular human interaction and programs to engage the memory-challenged individual in daily life, minimizing withdrawal.
- nutrition and exercise and social stimulation and support.
- elder well-being monitoring and communication with family and health care providers.
- freedom from caring for a loved one’s daily needs, so families can focus on spending quality and joyful times with the individual.
Connectedness is a basic human need that is particularly important with those with cognitive impairments. Circle of Friends is a daily gathering that stimulates conversation to minimize withdrawal. Routines include exercise, music and singing, and the “breaking of bread” traditions that are prevalent in every culture found around the world. Through this structure, elders have roles that provide them purpose and meaning, they listen, and can be successful in participating in a group activity no matter what stage of dementia they may be in.
We warmly welcome you to experience the good people who live and work in our senior living community. Our team believes if you do the right thing, the right things happen. You will hear lots of laughter and giggles!
