Lynn House is a haven for those relying on God for healing. Located in Alexandria, VA, just 10 minutes from Washington, D.C., Lynn House provides a spiritual refuge for those seeking proper care and healing through Christian Science.
The Residences at Lynn House, in a separate wing of our building, has six residential rooms for independent or assisted living in a sheltered, spiritually-supportive environment.
We offer a home for Christian Scientists who love actively practicing Christian Science and want to devote more attention to prayer, spiritual growth and healing. You can see the benefit of “right-sizing” your expression of home to fit current needs and support continuing spiritual progress and activity. Even your beloved pet might be able to move in with you. (Small animals are considered on a case-by-case basis.)
The Commonwealth of Virginia, who licenses our program, has granted us waivers and variances which free us from medical impositions and regulations that other residential communities must follow. With this freedom we are reminded that God’s answer to prayer may appear with this model of home being just right for you. Hymn 51 from the Christian Science Hymnal assures, “Love’s work and Love must fit.”
We offer skilled Christian Science Nursing care in our facility or through our Visiting Christian Science Nursing Service.
Lynn House provides Christian Science nursing care to patients who choose to rely exclusively on prayer for healing and arrange for daily treatment from a Christian Science practitioner listed in The Christian Science Journal.
We provide spiritually based nursing care that is in accordance with the Manual of the Mother Church by Mary Baker Eddy:
Article VIII, Guidance of Members. Christian Science Nurse. Sect 31. A member of The Mother Church who represents himself or herself as a Christian Science nurse shall be one who has a demonstrable knowledge of Christian Science practice, who thoroughly understands the practical wisdom necessary in a sick room, and who can take proper care of the sick. The cards of such persons may be inserted in The Christian Science Journal under rules established by the publishers.
For those who would like a prayerful retreat, we offer Rest and Study rooms on a space-available basis.
We offer three meals a day with access to our lovely grounds and to the library, which has Concord, bound volumes, the Christian Science Bible Lesson, and the Christian Science Monitor. Rest and Study guests should be completely independent, needing no assistance or nursing care.
