If you are unsure of the type of setting your loved one needs, here are a few explanations that help you start your research:

Independent Living is perfect for an individual(s) who is coming from their own home or living alone. This person may hope to be free from house and yard work, and may want to cook for themselves less often. Independent Living is also a great fit for someone who wants more socialization and activities. This area of the community is not under an assisted living license, which means our staff cannot provide care in this area. Someone seeking to live in Independent Living should be able to perform all of their own activities of daily living without assistance.

Assisted Living is a great setting for a senior who is needing a bit more help with personal tasks such as managing medications, or getting ready in the morning. At The Quarry, we offer four different Assisted Living settings; The Terrace PLUS—or our light assisted living—is designed for an individual who may need assistance with behind-closed-doors activities of daily living such as medication management or shower assistance. Our Lodge Assisted Living is a more traditional assisted living setting, where we can help residents with the same tasks as the light assisted living, but have the support of higher staffing for residents who may need more assistance. In the Lodge assisted living, we can help with tasks that may be more complicated, such as transfer assistance, diabetic injections, or wound care.

Additionally, we have The Ridge Parkinson’s Care community. The Ridge is a small setting of 29 apartments on the 3rd floor of The Lodge that is specially designed for residents with movement disorders. In this area, the staffing ratio is higher still and it has an additional dining room. In this area we can do all of the same tasks as in our traditional assisted living as well as some more complicated tasks such as tube feeding. Lastly, we have The Atrium Enhanced Care. This area of the community offers an intimate setting of only 11 studio apartments, blending the comfort and familiarity of a an adult family home—including an intimate dining and living room—with the benefits of a larger community. This area is designed for our highest-needs residents.

Memory Care is an area designed for those with advanced dementia. Memory Care is appropriate for someone who has trouble communicating their own needs and identifying their surroundings. The Quarry’s memory care is a 24 apartment lock-down area of the community with its own living room, dining room, activities area, and salon.
