In 2009 Mike Akin, along with his son John, came up with the idea of a new kind of senior assisted living center. Until then, the only available senior care was in institutional-like facilities otherwise known as nursing homes. In August 2013, Grand Manor Monticello broke ground. With its new approch to senior care, Grand Manor began a movement to greatly improve the quality of life for seniors. Grand Manor has a superior supervised Health and Wellness Program that offers medication assistance and monitoring, personal care and assistance with daily living activities. Grand Manor provides a full daily activity schedule available for all residents. The facility offers a theatre room, beauty salon, exercise room, spa, and several sitting/activity areas. There are weekly housekeepers, a 24-hour emergency call system, around-the-clock experienced, caring staff dedicated to meeting the needs of each resident, personal laundry rooms, and private landscaped courtyards with paved walking paths.
