We provide a continuum of senior living and affordability in the heart of Saint Paul.
No, you do not have to be Episcopalian to live here! In fact, most of our residents are not Episcopalian.
The word “Episcopal” in our name simply (and proudly) proclaims the values that have always guided us. Those values are reflected in our mission, and in the fact that we are a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) corporation, an Equal Housing Opportunity Provider and an Equal Opportunity Employer.

hard to describe I'm just like I said like I fell into a vat of chocolate something happens when you're with someone and you realize that it was more than just words but you just know all of a sudden that something holy has happened none of us ever really know how much time we have but to live it in a way that is so free of burdens and so full of gratitude and acceptance and feeling like their lives means something I run out of musicians to work with until I found this young lady learn how to get along because I'm out you need your glasses change did you say I was a young lady I know what I'm saying we were founded by an Episcopal Deaconess back in 1894 some people are mistaken when they assumed that one needs to be an Episcopalian to live here that has never been the case and it isn't and it never will be we our community represents the broad cross-section that exists in our neighborhood and in the broader community in terms of the various faith denominations a col Episcopal homes a cruise ship in place because it's kind of like that this is our first annual car rally with the Episcopal homes and it's our way to just promote awareness in the communities this is unbelievable nice weather good news is pretty cursed can't beat it no it's wonderful it's a great day you know I think that when we have an event like this it gives a sense of community a sense of place a sense of coming together a sense of paying attention to one another's needs and doing special functions where it's just fun this keeps that fabric of life happening if you don't feel like you're part of the community you're not going to reach out you're going to be isolated you've been married almost sixty two years and counting well we're very thankful the Episcopal Homes is here in our neighborhood provide such a warm and welcoming environment and stability one thing I think we've thought about too is the fact that if we need more care we can go to assisted we've got the rehab we could go to memory care if we needed it I am so deeply excited about the opportunity that we have to grow at this time because we don't have the capacity on our campus to serve all those that want to become residents of Episcopal homes we are going to be the first place in Minnesota that is going to be building our building around a philosophy of care a model of care called the greenhouse model we're going to have six houses of ten residents each universal workers so at the center of each house is a hearth is a dining room is a kitchen is a space for activities and you have ten residents and then you have those few universal workers that will be there every day so it truly becomes a family situation the green house philosophy of care is it really is like a logical extension of them of the model of care that has always existed at the Episcopal Church home which is residence centered and very again very attentive to people's need for privacy and community I believe what excites the residents most is that they'll get to participate it'll have more available to them as far as amenities Episcopal homes has adapted to meet the seniors needs where they live and where they want to live whether that's independent housing or assisted living or whether or not that is new ways of serving seniors in communities I'm very proud to be part of Episcopal homes I feel like we have such an amazing opportunity in our community to make a difference with our community members I'm 99 plus at 3 months yes I'm enjoying life wonderful I I'm enjoying life real wonderful and I hope I live to be a hundred and five but my doctor said I could live to be a hundred and ten more and more residents are coming to us and saying that they want to be on our waiting lists here at Episcopal homes because light rail is coming right there right next door a half a block away if the light rail stop is occurring at Fairview University and so again it's that that access to the action it's that access to immediate transportation to go to downtown st. Paul downtown Minneapolis the Ordway the Twins game Vikings game those kinds of things that makes a difference and that is going to be such a gift to have for all of our folks who want to be able to stay active one of the biggest challenges we have in livable communities is transportation and for seniors if you look at the gaps that exist in services very often it's a gap in transportation if you don't have a family member who can provide that service for you that can be a huge barrier to getting the services and support you need and we're gonna have light rail at the doorstep of Episcopal homes fiscal homes has kind of consistently demonstrated the their their love of the city of st. Paul their faith in the future of the city of st. Paul and so to see them expanding on the University Avenue I think is a real great testament to not only their vision of their service network but also their vision for the city of st. Paul which includes vibrant places for seniors to live there are lots of other activities that are a little more sedentary so that if you have difficulty walking or if there are reasons why you can't participate in anything really active then you can do something that still gives you an outlet for your creativity all of us have something that we're able to contribute to the world everybody has you just have to find the niche where you belong at our core it is to be as compassionate as we can and provide as high a quality experience that we possibly can as we provide homes and services to seniors whether you have are fortunate enough to have your own funds or not you deserve the same quality of life as any other senior could expect as they grow older your person first and foremost that when you enter you don't become a patient you don't come in just to be taken care of you'll come in to your new home everyone recognizes the individual person you are I think that's what people should look for when they're looking for a site for their parents or for themselves they need to go with what feels right to them the great thing about physical homes is providing first of all housing for seniors you know that are still very very active members of their community my mother and father-in-law heart have been living in Cornelia house for several years now but there is vibrant and as active as they've ever been when this comes down to it we you know walk a mile in those shoes what do we want for ourselves as we grow old or what do we want for ourselves in our own day-to-day living and you look to find the organization that has those key ingredients they're an Episcopal home does you're not here to die you're here to live and that's what Episcopal Homes does best it's a vibrant community for older adults what does it mean to me number one is my home I have lived in over 33 places in my lifetime I've had to move a lot and this is my home now and I hope to live here until I go to heaven
