hi my name is Susanna speeds and I have a program called comedy playground and senior stand up SSU teaching them stand up comic a lot of how many would like to make people laugh senior stand up SSU as a senior program that we're launching this year working with fifty five to ninety five year olds the same a curriculum applies for each program point of view activities grab-bag activities current event activities it's a platform to share who you are we do with your stand-up and these seniors or hysterical so today the goal is sharing we are these activities and I promise you you will laugh and you will make someone left wing always left let me do these exercises like truth tail or we do rants where they they show their pet peeves or they say certain things that will automatically trigger a response to an opinion that they might have I'd like you to write down three things if you don't have three and see if you can write down one something you really don't like it can be a behavior it can be a vegetable it can be something apologists it can be a smell anything that is something you really don't fight okay and there's no right or wrong I don't like bad smells because I'm afraid to me along with my traffic control and then based on the opinions we structure it into stand up to do one of these topics incremental this first home should sell the audience how much you don't like it and then we want to see an example of it so when you show an example you bring the audience into your story that's what bloody comes around the first thing I really hate cell phones now that's not really the cell phone it's the people and how you use them let's manage our time week by week and let's challenge ourselves to see what we can do to build a five minute set they want to talk they've they've been telling me over and over think they have more and more to say to America my name is John I was going to ask you if I can tell a joke but you did mention that all right once we know they can share a story then wow I have this other story I want to share this story do you have anything else I said I'm getting more accountable this is what it's all about well I don't stand up go for it look at this seniors know how to be funny themselves they have years and years of experience I'm just there to help encourage them to share their story and structure it through order through comedy and it was just Marvel isn't at the very end she said now at the end of my show I always take off part of my costume oh and I thought there's only this oh this dog you're gonna take your ride bet she's oh I know so now okay shut your eyes it's only gonna take million I'll be honest drive slow okay open your eyes you didn't really think I was good observational activities so that every day you know they're tuned in to what's going on around them or what's going on in their life and having to write it down if recently I got this notice somebody wanted to be my friend on said well just click language that it's the one universal language that no matter how old you are no matter where you live everybody wants to hop on board and understand it every exercise I do is just it's trying to bring those pieces together everything from this sheet is a tool for building stand up there's a bond that goes on in a class for comedy because you're you're sharing that you are and you're supporting one another and one of the goals of teaching is to pass on what you know to be able to have that process to continue otherwise there's no learning I cheese so that there's learning this is the quality of their life I think they're going to benefit from being actively involved I know there will be some class works it's going to give people things that are important to do to work on to have to set some goals these are always important for all of us so I think it's going to fulfill that for them it will also give them an opportunity to have fun with each other and then I like the idea that they'll them and to develop a more happy attitude about life I know so many and they were just being themselves which was great it's it's opening up a whole new window and I'm excited about that I enjoyed it very much I thought it was very good I didn't know quite what to expect to this class will a lot of fun I had a really good time I was scared to death doing it I feel great relief but I did get some laps wearing very well I felt that I did it I could do it I had too confident
