Whether you’re seeking the rugged natural beauty of the Sonoran Desert landscape or the activities, sophistication, and vibrant urban life of one of the country’s most progressive metropolitan areas, you’ll find it at Sagewood, a resort-style senior living community in Northeast Phoenix near Scottsdale, Ariz.
Our stunning Southwestern architecture captures the timeless character of the surrounding desert environment with its open-air design, indigenous landscaping, and serene desert-toned color scheme. At the heart of Sagewood is a magnificent, welcoming rotunda featuring giant columns from Douglas fir that surround a sturdy, live ironwood tree. A splashing fountain cascades into an outdoor pool complex complete with gazebo, outdoor dining area, fireplaces, and ramadas. Tucked between our two clubhouses, under the shade of mature palo verde trees, lies the beautiful Town Center Plaza. Here, among fountains and ramadas, you’ll find the very center of activity at Sagewood. Opening onto the plaza are the Canyon Café for informal dining, the Mesquite Grill with lounge, an outdoor dining and display kitchen, a convenience store, a business center, a beauty and hair salon, the fitness and strength-training center, a bank, and our creative arts studio.

one of the things that we like about sagewood as opposed to some other places we've heard about is that the activities are kind of resident sponsored or resident driven so that the things that we are doing are things that our residents have asked to do but the self program is a sage would Institute for lifelong learning we use our own residents many of whom are very skilled and knowledgeable in certain areas as instructors or presenters or give lectures or classes on various subjects anything you can think of from you know anthropology geology basically medicine yeah economics and then we also we also have a pipeline to the asu arizona state university and it keeps us keep your minds alert keeps us going and you have to do things like this to keep keep going and keep young otherwise you just sit and moulder away in a chair or somewhere in you can't do that this is something we're doing for our kids so most of them do not they don't live close to us and if something happened to us and that they felt like they needed to come you have to fly and take time off work and we just felt that that's too much of an onus to put on our children to to do so they know that we're well taken care of here and not only that but the grandchildren have come to visit us here and they say oh hey we want to go back to grandpa and grandma's resort it's better to be five years too early than five minutes too late yeah at our age of course you don't know whether you're going to follow a breakup hip or whether you're going to have a stroke or whatever so as I think it's just common sense as you grow older to think about these possibilities and then what what would happen and where you should live we've gone so far from that image that we used to have when people give up their homes and come in to a retirement center like this where it used to be the nursing almond people sitting in their wheelchairs asleep in front of a television or being controlled by activities who make you do this and make you do that and here's just you know like our normal living like we've always done without that feeling of sort of living in the home as we say it's great life you
